Wyndham Inks Deal for First Resort in Costa Rica

GUANACASTE, COSTA RICA—Wyndham Hotel Group inked a franchise agreement for the first resort in Costa Rica to fly the upscale Wyndham Hotels and Resorts brand flag, the Wyndham Papagayo Yu Resort in Guanacaste.

The 151-room property, owned by ASECCSS, is currently under development and is scheduled to open by the end of 2015. It will be a mixed-use resort affiliated with RCI, part of Wyndham Hotel Group’s sister company, Wyndham Exchange & Rentals.

Upon opening, Wyndham Papagayo Yu Resort will join two city-center Wyndham properties currently open in Costa Rica, Wyndham Garden San Jose Escazú and Wyndham San Jose Herradura.

“A key factor in our growth in Latin America and the Caribbean is further expanding the Wyndham brand’s resort offerings in key leisure destinations,” stated Paulo Pena, president/managing director of Latin America for Wyndham Hotel Group. “Guanacaste’s popularity among international travelers as a top vacation spot makes it an essential location for us to be present. We’re thrilled to work with ASECCSS to break ground on Wyndham Papagayo Yu Resort.”

The resort will be situated along Playa Panamá in Guanacaste, located just 12.5 miles from Liberia International Airport.

Resort services and amenities will include two on-site restaurants, shops, a pool, sports courts, a gym and a spa. All guest accommodations, comprised of standard and junior suites, will offer ocean views.
