PHILADELPHIA—The Wurzak Hotel Group is under contract to build a 300-room, dual-branded hotel in a prime downtown Fort Lauderdale location. Construction on the 24-story development will begin this summer, with an opening scheduled for early 2017. The property will also feature more than 17,000 sq. ft. of retail space, a lounge and restaurant, as well as structured parking.
The two hotels will add 300 rooms to the heart of Fort Lauderdale’s urban core close to the Las Olas Blvd. shopping street, the city’s business district and Fort Lauderdale Beach. Also nearby are leading attractions including the Galleria Mall, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention Center, Sawgrass Mills Outlets, the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the NSU Museum for Art, Fortune 500 companies and the Broward Center for Performing Arts. The dual-branded property will offer more than 7,500 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art meeting space and will be managed by the Wurzak Hotel Group.
The high-rise hotel has been designed by a prominent Miami architect and will feature a cosmopolitan resort “sky lobby” on the eighth floor with an upscale bar and indoor/outdoor pool lounge surrounded by cabanas and tropical landscaping. The hotel will be the first dual-branded hotel in Fort Lauderdale.
“We are thrilled to be developing this fantastic hotel and retail project at this premier location in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Fort Lauderdale is rapidly expanding, and we feel this area is ripe for new development. The hotel will be a great addition to the downtown skyline, and will be a tremendous shopping and leisure destination for locals and guests,” said Jake Wurzak, principal, Wurzak Hotel Group. “We take a hands-on entrepreneurial approach in the way we develop and operate our hotels, and look forward to incorporating our unique design driven vision into this project which will be unlike anything in the market.”
