What’s New in Vacation Ownership?

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Vacation ownership companies are making acquisitions and beefing up their offerings. Here’s a look:

Capital Vacations Acquires Summer Winds Resorts

Capital Vacations, a provider of sales and management services in the vacation ownership industry, acquired Summer Winds Resorts, a vacation ownership developer.

The move follows the acquisitions of SPM Resorts and Defender Resorts, furthering Capital Vacations’ goal of expanding its offering of quality vacation destinations. Prior to this, Capital Vacations managed 71 resort properties throughout the U.S. and Caribbean.

The acquisition includes Stormy Point Village and Stormy Point Lakeside.

The Registry Collection Program Expands Network

The Registry Collection program, a luxury vacation exchange program, has added 21 new resorts to its collection in the past year, bringing the total number of affiliated resorts to 243.

From urban escapes to coastal hideaways, and mountain chalets to nature resorts, The Registry Collection’s expanded portfolio now includes the following:

  • Club Wyndham Midtown 45
  • The Penthouses at Sirena del Mar by Welk Resorts
  • Mondi-Holiday Resorts – Alpin Chalet Oberstaufen, Chalet Village, Grundlsee and Bellevue Suites
  • Beacon Island Resort
  • The Rosetta

The Registry Collection also recently added The African Collection to its Collection Partners program, which also includes Adventures by Disney, Priority Pass, Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Perry Golf, Fairmont Hotel and Resorts, Yachtstore, European Villas and Manors, City Discovery and Love Home Swap, among others. The African Collection provides luxury accommodations in game lodges, offering a choice of itineraries covering the best eco-regions of Africa with game viewing in exclusive wilderness reserves, experienced guides and local and international cuisine.

Interval International Adds New Resorts

Interval International, a provider of vacation services, has added new resorts to its vacation exchange network.

Sunrise Suites by Lifestyle, a mixed-use all-inclusive resort in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, is part of the Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Resort complex set in tropical gardens on Cofresí Beach. The four-story building has one- and two-bedroom suites that include an open-plan layout, a sophisticated design with clean lines, a neutral palette complemented by colorful modern art, and scenic mountain and ocean views.

Five Senses Resort, situated in north-central Brazil in Palmas, Tocantins, is currently being developed by JRC Engenharia, one of the largest construction companies in the region. Currently under construction, the resort will have one- and two-bedroom units that include an open-plan kitchen and living room, bathroom with modern finishes, and a furnished private terrace with scenic views of the Tocantins River. The contemporary decor will have neutral tones with wood accents and bold splashes of color, custom artwork and elegant furnishings. The anticipated 202 units are slated for completion in the last quarter of 2021.

The Palladium Hotel Group’s TRS Coral Hotel in Costa Mujeres, Mexico, offers adults-only luxury experiences under the signature Infinite Indulgence. Located on white-sand beaches just north of downtown Cancún, the hotel has 469 suites.
