Construction Begins on Detroit’s First Cambria
Choice Hotels International Inc. and Koucar Management have started construction on Detroit’s first Cambria hotel: the Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown. Slated to open in 2020, the modular-construction, six-story, 158-room hotel will become the Cambria brand’s second location in Michigan. The Cambria Hotel Detroit Downtown will be a part of an adaptive-reuse of the historic former home of WWJ studios. The site is close to national corporate headquarters, including Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, among others. The property will have a rooftop bar with pool, on-site dining, meeting space and a fitness center. The hotel is being developed through a joint venture between two Michigan-based companies: Means Group Inc. in Detroit and Koucar Management LLC in Troy.
Cambria to Open Fifth in Washington, DC
Choice Hotels International Inc., Donohoe Development Company and Koucar Management have started construction on the Cambria Hotel Washington DC Capitol Riverfront. The new-construction, nine-story, 154-room hotel, which is expected to open in early 2021, will become the Cambria brand’s fifth location in the Washington, DC metro area. The Cambria hotel will be close to Nationals Park, the Audi Field soccer stadium and the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The hotel will have a rooftop lounge, 2,500 sq. ft. of meeting space, on-site dining and a fitness center. BBGM Architects is the architect for the property.
Valor Hospitality Partners Plans for NJ Property
Valor Hospitality Partners has plans to open the 118-room Somerset Hills Hotel in Warren, NJ, in January 2020. A Tapestry Collection by Hilton property, this new hotel will have more than 5,100 sq. ft. of flexible indoor meeting space and an outdoor venue. Following a major $22-million renovation, the property also has a seasonal outdoor pool and sundeck as well as a 24-hour fitness center with Peloton bikes and food and beverage options. The site is close to Newark Airport.
