ACCRA, GHANA—Villa Monticello, owned by three Ghanaian entrepreneurs, has opened here.
The hotel offers 14 individually themed suites, including the Kwame Nkrumah presidential suite, with commissioned photos of Ghana’s first president and a design palette of gold and wood textures, as well as the Manhattan Suite, which features the city skyline. Each suite offers amenities such as flat screen televisions, bathrobes and cotton terry towels, Acqua di Parma toiletries and iPod docking stations.
The property also offers two all-day dining options. 1A restaurant on the ground level offers a bistro-inspired menu of continental and local fare, while The Terrace, a glass-enclosed and air-conditioned space overlooking the pool, offers a casual menu.
Design elements of the hotel include images from Tuscany on the walls, painted murals from Ghanaian artists and marble from South Africa that lines the base of the glass paneled wall fountain in the restaurant.
