Unique Hotels in the Pipeline

HAMBURG, GERMANY—TOPHOTELPROJECTS, a provider of global b2b hotel data, recently assembled a list of unique hotel projects.
Among them is the InterContinental Shimao Shanghai Wonderland Resort, a 380-room property expected to open in 2015. This property, on an island near Shanghai in Southern China, will be located in a crater. Part of a theme park, one floor of the hotel will sit above the crater, while the other 18 floors will be in its depth.
Gewers & Pudewill, Berlin architects, are planning Hydropolis, a 175-room underwater hotel, in Hanai. The hotel will have views of the coral reef where it will be located. Water taxis will transport guests to the island. The hotel is set to arise by 2016.
Gewers & Pudewill are also developing another hotel in China, Waterworld Bei Bei. This theme park near Chongquing will feature 300 rooms and a luxury spa. The hotel will be integrated into the landscape and should reflect the theme of the rice fields. The opening is scheduled for this year.
In addition, a hotel ship is being planned in Florida. The Undersea Resort will feature three decks with rooms beneath the water’s surface and a casino. 600 suites, a spa, a golf simulator, two helicopter landing fields and an underwater observation station are being planned for. According to the company, the hotel is still looking for investors for the $600-million project.
