Times Square, Indy hotels under new management

Hotels in New York’s Times Square and Indianapolis have new management companies. Here’s a look:

Rebel Hospitality to manage Hotel Mela Times Square
Hotel Mela Times Square, a boutique hotel located in Midtown Manhattan, is set to reopen under hotel management services provided by Rebel Hospitality.

Rebel Hospitality is the hotel management division of Capstone Equities, a New York-based private equity firm with assets and transactions over the past decade valued at more than $1.5 billion. The division was recently formed in a move to evolve and adapt the paradigm for management options for hotel assets owned by, or partnered with, Capstone Equities.

The addition of Hotel Mela adds to Capstone’s 1,100 room inventory in New York City. Hotel Mela offers guests a “warm, modern, Italian-inspired urban oasis,” according to the owners. It has 234 guestrooms and executive suites that are up to 300 sq. ft. in a pet-friendly, upscale boutique hotel setting.

Davidson Hospitality Group to manage The Alexander in Indianapolis
Davidson Hospitality Group has been selected by Buckingham Companies to manage The Alexander under Pivot, its lifestyle operating vertical.

Situated in downtown Indianapolis as the centerpiece of the CityWay development, the 209-room LEED Silver hotel has 157 guestrooms and 52 extended-stay suites; two distinct food and beverage outlets, including the Jorge Pardo-designed Plat 99 Coffee + Cocktails; and 16,500 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space. Under new management, the hotel will undergo a renovation and refresh.

The Alexander is named for Alexander Ralston, the city planner who laid out the original plan for Indy’s downtown in the early 19th century. The property has more than 50 works of art by 25 contemporary artists and 14 site-specific commissioned works curated by the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
