LIVINGSTONE, ZAMBIA—Tongabezi, the luxury lodge upstream of Victoria Falls here, expanded its Honeymoon House and deck, reconfigured the interiors and brought in interior designer Abi James to style the spaces.
The style is eco-eclectic, according to the company. Many of the decorative pieces are found objects that have been recycled. For example, a pair of old rowing oars discovered by owner Ben Parker, known as an avid collector, were mounted to the wall as art. Other finds include antique wooden chests and wardrobes.
The color palette features neutrals and whites with shades of blue on the bedspread and cushions and shades of red and orange on the antique carpets. A claw foot bathtub replaced the sunken tub.
Tongabezi comprises six houses, five river cottages and a villa. Each house and cottage has its own valet who takes care of guests throughout their stay and acts as a private concierge.
