BEIJING—Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing & Yanqi Island, managed by Kempinski, is set to open Nov. 17.
The destination located in the Yanqi Lake area is made up of 14 hotels—Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, Beijing (previously known as Yanqi Lake Kempinski Hotel Beijing), with 306 guestrooms and suites, as well as Yanqi Hotel with 111 guestrooms and suites, and 12 boutique hotels with 178 guestrooms and suites (on Yanqi Island). Facilities include 14 restaurants and bars, meeting space, landscaped gardens, a private marina, an electronic boat, the Yanqi Pagoda, Kempinski The Spa, recreational and fitness facilities and a Kid’s Club.
“We anticipate that leisure travelers will be an important market for our Sunrise Kempinski & Yanqi Island destination accounting for 40% of our total revenue,” stated General Manager Brice Péan.
Mutianyu Great Wall is about a 30-minute drive. Other attractions include a water sports center, horseback riding, Hongluo Temple, Qinglong Gorge and Baiquan Mountain.
Yanqi Lake is located at the foot of the Yan Mountains, surrounded by a variety of trees, including pine, poplar and willow. The island is a natural habitat for various species of birds, including rare migrant birds and geese, especially during spring and autumn. The name Yanqi Lake literally translates as “Swans Dwell on the Lake.”
