Six Senses to Open First European Resort

BANGKOK—Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas is slated to open its first resort in Europe in Portugal’s Douro Valley.

The property features 19th century architecture with contemporary interiors, reflecting the Six Senses style, according to the company. The resort covers 19 acres and offers a library and 71 guestrooms and suites, ranging from Valley, Spa and River rooms to suites and villas with one, two and three bedrooms.

An all-day dining restaurant and a specialty restaurant draw from the region’s produce as well as the resort’s own gardens, featuring a contemporary take on Portuguese classics.

A Six Senses Spa, with more than 24,000 sq. ft., offers 10 treatment rooms, Six Senses specialty treatments, multi-day programs and a menu of locally inspired therapies, some of which are wine based. The Yogic Programs will be added to the menu with services appealing to different levels of yoga practitioners through Discover Yoga and Yogic Detox.

The property is scheduled to open in Spring 2015 following a refurbishment by NYC-based Clodagh Design.
