Sheraton Bloomington Unveils $15M Transformation

MINNEAPOLIS—Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., has completed a $15-million renovation of the Sheraton Bloomington led by The Gettys Group.

Owned by WB Hotel Partners and operated by Wischermann Partners, the hotel’s makeover introduced a new restaurant, Lela, as well as the addition of Sheraton Club, the brand’s lounge for upgraded amenities and offerings.

“Following its expansive renovation, Sheraton Bloomington is a great example of the brand’s new direction as we work toward our Sheraton 2020 goal to solidify Sheraton as a leading global hotel brand of choice, everywhere,” said Bob Jacobs, VP of brand management, Sheraton and Westin. “The hotel’s modern enhancements and added amenities create an intuitive experience for guests, enabling them, as a result, to experience more during their stay.”

Upon entering the hotel, the registration desks are illuminated in front of a large-scale art installation, while the lobby is anchored by a 30-ft. bar and 10-screen video display during the day and converted into a high-design bar in the evening. Additionally, the hotel offers the brand’s new reimagined food and beverage program, Paired, comprised of artisanal small plates and bar snacks served alongside suggested premium wines and craft beers.

The upgrade of all 282 guestrooms and suites presents a contemporary design with multifunctional furniture pieces, LED lighting and large-screen Smart TVs. The transformation also features the introduction of an all-new Sheraton club lounge and a refreshed Sheraton fitness facility. With the addition of three state-of-the-art meeting rooms, the property now offers more than 17,000 sq. ft. of meeting space.

The hotel has added a new restaurant with Lela, which serves contemporary American cuisine rooted in classic technique. Led by Executive Chef John Mullen III, formerly of 6Smith and B.A.N.K., Lela features prime steaks, innovative seafood crudos and house-made pastas.

Located on the Bloomington/Edina business corridor, near the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the Mall of America, the new hotel provides access to Bloomington’s outdoor trails, cultural attractions and entertainment, and Downtown Minneapolis is only a short drive away.
