At this year’s HITEC at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas, Samsung Electronics America Inc. revealed a number of innovations and content management solutions for its hospitality partners.

“The return to travel and prioritization on guest interaction has shifted the hospitality industry and how it traditionally delivers products and services,” said Chris Mertens, VP of sales, Samsung Electronics America Display Division. “The move to digitalized platforms has amplified during the pandemic, so we have taken time to reflect, research and gather feedback from the market on how to best meet evolving needs and enhance the hotel experience by making investments in guest-facing technology that leverages today’s display and network infrastructure options.”

Mark Quiroz, VP, product marketing, Samsung Electronics America Display Division, added,  “Samsung’s portfolio of hospitality solutions demonstrates our understanding of how digital transformation can contribute to a superlative guest experience. These solutions, from our new in-room hospitality TVs to lobby and outdoor LED signage, and to our new all-in-one secure kiosk solution, showcase Samsung’s ability to elevate the entire guest experience while streamlining operations with a comprehensive technology ecosystem.”

New smart hospitality TV

Samsung’s newest guest-facing technology is its new QLED 4K Smart TV Series. The Q60A and Q50A Hospitality TVs combine Samsung’s Quantum Dot processors with 4K resolution and Smart TV features for optimal picture quality and sound. The series boasts Quantum HDR, which offers a wider range of brightness and high contrast, while its sleek and slim design simplifies mounting and installations, allowing seamless integration into any environment.

The Q60A is compatible with Samsung LYNK Cloud for easier device management, content management and business analytics for multiple sites and hotel chain properties. LYNK Cloud can also be used as a targeted marketing solution for incremental revenue generation. LYNK Cloud controls in-room media to deliver smart branded content through Samsung’s secure, commercial-grade TVs, combined with advanced analytics to boost revenue and lower costs.

Samsung Kiosk

The Kiosk’s easy install options, enhanced protective antimicrobial coating and shatterproof film make it an ideal solution for the hospitality industry. Fitted with a speaker, printer, scanner and a variety of payment options, including a cradle for major EMV (Europay, MasterCard, Visa) terminals, this 24-in. touch display simplifies check-in/out, ordering and other engagements with its simple interface.

The display is powered by Samsung’s SoC (System on Chip) technology, removing the need for an external PC. The Kiosk’s all-in-one functionality makes maintenance fast and easy, ensuring minimal business downtime, a decrease in operating costs for hotels, as well as increased satisfaction for guests.

Electric vehicle charging station

Sales of EVs (electric vehicles) are expected to rapidly grow, along with the installation of EV charging stations. Samsung’s Kiosk is designed to help customers provide a best-in-class charging service while adding a visual channel for guest services, membership programs and third-party advertising.

The company showcased its EV charging station kiosk solution at its booth at HITEC with a BMW i8 hybrid sports car. The charging station demonstrates how hotels can make a sophisticated impression, and drive revenue and brand loyalty throughout the guest journey while building sustainability leadership.

The Kiosk’s touchscreen display can use user data and programmatic advertising technology for targeted advertising, as well as deliver hotel messages and service offers, and community messages. With its MagicINFO 9 Remote Management feature, hotel management can easily manage content and improve efficiency by identifying any issues in real-time and taking necessary measures when a problem occurs. Remote control capabilities enable the diagnosis of issues and control of essential functions such as switching the screen on and off.

LED

Samsung’s newest product to its outdoor LED display portfolio is the XPR-B, a flexible, all-in-one display solution designed for a variety of small and medium-sized hospitality businesses. Dubbed the “LED in a Box,” the XPR-B comes complete with a simple, web-based content management solution allowing hospitality IT managers to disseminate important information quickly. Samsung’s outdoor displays are designed in recognition of how properties are today leveraging digital displays that are fully integrated, self-contained and can be used in heat, cold, rain, snow and dust.

Large video walls are the newest trend in architecture and design for hospitality public spaces, which is why Samsung has introduced The Wall. The Wall features MicroLED technology that delivers a viewing experience with pure black, true color and epic clarity. It is ideal for lobbies, VIP suites and conference rooms, as well as other areas within a hotel.
