Same Digs, New Look for Three Hotels

NATIONAL REPORT—It’s a new year and along with it comes new looks for longstanding hotels in the U.S. Here’s a look at recent renovations:

Albany Marriott

The 33-year-old Marriott on Wolf Rd. in Albany, NY, has completed a $15-million renovation. The project to renovate Albany’s second largest hotel, which is owned by Columbia Sussex, includes significant updates to the interior and exterior of the three-story building.

The first phase of the project began in October 2016 and included the refurbishment of the exterior masonry, the installation of updated heating and air-conditioning units in each room and the installation of new drainage and plumbing. Each bathroom in the hotel’s 360 guestrooms has also been fitted with new bathtubs, showers, trim and tile imported from Italy.

During the second phase of renovation, each room was refreshed with new finishes, paint, carpeting, furniture, lighting, window treatments and beds. All rooms with two double beds were replaced with queen beds. The public areas were also renovated, including the Great Room, bar area, lobby, common areas, corridors and 16,000-sq.-ft. of meeting space.

The Adelphi Hotel

The Adelphi Hotel located in downtown Saratoga Springs, NY, has unveiled a collection of meeting and event spaces following a large-scale redevelopment and grand reopening.

Originally built in 1877, the property offers a modern reimagining of classic Victorian luxury. The new flexible meeting spaces can stand alone for intimate events or meetings or be combined to accommodate up to 200 guests.

The new 2,300-sq.-ft. grand ballroom can accommodate larger groups, when combined with The Blue Hen, for private meetings, conventions or weddings. It opens up to the Adelphi Gardens, which is surrounded by the greenery of the landscaped gardens. The hotel’s drawing room is available for cocktail receptions, seated dinners and corporate meetings while the library has flexible spaces for dinner parties and private celebrations.

The Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa

The comprehensive repositioning of The Bay Harbor Hotel & Conference Center in Tampa Bay, FL, to the Godfrey Hotel & Cabanas Tampa includes the addition of 15 new guestrooms and a complete renovation of its existing guestrooms and suites. The accommodations were upgraded with hardwood flooring, marble countertops, new mattresses, double-sink vanities, frameless walk-in showers, back-lit LED mirrors, contemporary furnishings, and nautical-inspired room accents, including drapery and artwork.

It is the fourth Godfrey property in Oxford Hotels & Resorts LLC’s growing national portfolio of lifestyle hospitality brands, which includes the flagship Chicago location (2014), Boston (2016), and the Godfrey Hollywood, which is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2019.
