Renovations Enhance Sheraton, Hyatt, Marriott

NATIONAL REPORT—Renovations and upgrades are keeping U.S. hoteliers busy this month. Here’s a look at what’s new:

Boston-area Sheraton Gets $2M Upgrade

About 20 miles west of Boston in Framingham, MA, real estate investment and management company Waterton has completed a $2-million renovation of the 375-key Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center.

The project updated guestrooms with new window treatments, furnishings and televisions, as well as upgraded common areas and amenity spaces, including the Sheraton Club Lounge. The hotel’s wireless network also was enhanced with more than 130 new access points and upgraded bandwidth capacity.

“The upgrades will complement [other]interior renovations completed a few years ago, helping us maintain our reputation as the area’s premier hotel and conference center,” said General Manager Brian Smith.

Waterton has owned and operated the hotel since 2011. Earlier improvements to the property included a renovated lobby, grand ballroom and fitness center.

Florida Hyatt Regency Adds Suites

The 287-room Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa has concluded an extensive, multimillion-dollar renovation to its guestrooms, meeting and event spaces, and public areas.

The hotel added 37 new suites, almost all of which include fully equipped kitchens and furnished balconies; new food and beverage options, including a 24-hour market; technology charging stations; and other enhancements.

The renovations also relocated the hotel’s Skimmers Bar to the inside of SHOR American Seafood Grill, its full-service restaurant. The relocation allowed for the addition of a market-style concept with grab-and-go items like deli-fresh sandwiches, gourmet soups, ready made salads, fresh pastries and coffee.

The resort also combined two meeting spaces into one 3,100-sq.-ft. ballroom and upgraded its 700-sq.-ft. Bayview Room for executive summits, leadership retreats and board meetings for up to 25 persons.

Marriott Goes Coastal with Renovations

The Hilton Head Marriott Resort & Spa recently completed renovations that delivered the new Blue Restaurant & Lounge and has renovations underway for the hotel’s meetings space and lobby.

The restaurant includes a private dining room and 11 HDTVs. The lobby is adding a communal table, new check-in and coastal-inspired furnishings with renovations set to be completed next year.

The meetings space is now undergoing a total transformation, with updates that include new carpeting and wallcoverings, reflecting the coastal vibe of the resort’s new look.
