Reimagined Space: Five East Coast Updates

NATIONAL REPORT—East Coast properties are getting new looks from updated guestrooms to additional spaces. Here’s more on the recent revamps:

Historic Jersey Shore Hotel Redesigns Space

Seaview, a Dolce Hotel in Galloway, NJ—part of the meetings and events brand Dolce Hotels and Resorts by Wyndham—will update its space with modern design inspired by the hotel’s Jersey Shore history.

The $17-million renovation will include updates to all 296 guestrooms and suites; refreshed meeting spaces, lobby and public areas; renovations to the outdoor pool and new dining options, including a new original restaurant concept within the hotel’s Oval Room. Guestrooms and meeting spaces will be closed to visitors for the winter months, reopening starting in March 2019. The hotel’s golf course remains open. In addition, the coastal motif carries into the hotel’s 27,000 sq. ft. of event space and 21 meeting rooms.

Founded in 1914, the historic Seaview Hotel has hosted famed names such as Presidents Warren G. Harding and Dwight D. Eisenhower, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Grace Kelly.

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Adds Event Space, Updates Guestrooms

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, FL has broken ground on a new, 25,000-sq.-ft. ballroom that will add 32,000 sq. ft. of pre-function and event space, doubling the current ballroom space. With its expansion, the resort will offer a total 102,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space comprised of two ballrooms, exhibit space, pre-function space, 45 meeting rooms and outdoor venues suitable for groups of 10-1,000. The resort’s new ballroom project is scheduled to be completed by fall 2019.

The meeting and event space expansion follows the completion of a $10-million guestroom renovation that offers a mix of comfort and convenience for guests traveling to Central Florida for business or pleasure.

Maryland Property Completes Multi-Phase Renovation

The Tidewater Inn in Easton, MD has completed a multi-phase renovation. The inn partnered with Philadelphia-based Das Architects, as well as Restoration Hardware on the design of the revitalized guestrooms.

The Premiere Guest Rooms and Suites were first introduced in April 2016 which jump-started the series of renovation projects, including the redesign of the first set of 20 guestrooms, offering modern bathrooms, furniture, carpet, paint and decor. Also unveiled during this phase was The Dover Club—the property’s newest private event venue, for meetings and events for up to 50 guests. At the same time, the Chesapeake Room, the Inn’s corporate and wedding hospitality suite and the kitchen of Hunters’ Tavern, the hotel’s signature restaurant, underwent renovations.

Williamsburg Lodge Refreshes its Guestrooms

Colonial Williamsburg Resorts has completed guestroom renovations at the Williamsburg Lodge, Autograph Collection property in Williamsburg, VA. The Williamsburg Lodge has 323 guestrooms, including two hospitality suites, full-service spa and fitness center, 45 holes of championship golf, on-site restaurants and lounge and a central location close to Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area and Art Museums.

The property has been in the process of multi-phase renovations throughout 2018, giving rooms a fresh, clean and modern look. The Williamsburg Lodge has restored elements throughout the property such as crown molding and inspiration from 18th-century trends such as a Chippendale Fret pattern accented in the drapery.

North Carolina Holiday Inn Express Completes Renovation

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Wilmington—University Center in Wilmington, NC has completed its renovation. The 131-room hotel revamped its interior and exterior to reflect the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) Formula Blue design.

Owned and operated by Meyer Jabara Hotels (MJH), the redesign encompasses the porte-cochere, main entrance, lobby, front desk, guest bathrooms, meeting spaces (including a ballroom, boardroom and two function rooms), breakfast area with newly added Sweetshop Marketplace, fitness center and outdoor swimming pool and patio area.
