INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Whether it’s celebrating an anniversary, receiving an award, earning a certification, debuting a new product or expanding the business, hotel companies and vendors achieve new milestones on a daily basis. Here’s a look at recent accomplishments:
Protect-A-Bed Introduces New Level of Viral Barrier Protection
Protect-A-Bed LLC, the creator of the Ultimate Healthy Sleep Zone, recently underwent independent lab testing to ensure its products meet the evolving needs of the hospitality industry. Protect-A-Bed’s mattress and pillow protectors have passed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) highest standard for Viral Barrier Penetration.
The independent laboratory testing certifies that these products meet or exceed the CDC’s Level 4 standard, thereby ensuring that Protect-A-Bed’s viral barrier products provide the highest level of viral barrier protection. Level 4 testing is the same resistance test standard established by the CDC for surgical gowns and drapes.
Protect-A-Bed is also launching an Ultimate Healthy Sleep Zone campaign focused around three easy steps to create the healthy sleep zone. This campaign aims to bring awareness to how easy it is for hoteliers to create a healthy, comfortable space for their guests.
DSH Hotel Advisors Wins Real Estate Competition
CoStar Group Inc. recently revealed the Power Brokers Quarterly Deals winners for the second quarter of 2020, and Dennis Hopper, managing principal of DSH Hotel Advisors, came out on top of the list of winners in the hotel sector within a defined market. Power Brokers Quarterly Deals winners are determined by their top deals in specific major markets, every quarter, based on sales price and square footage.
“COVID-19 has really slowed down the volume of hotel transactions this year; however, we are still averaging between seven to 10 offers on every exclusive listing assignment, which is allowing us to move deals to contract and get them closed,” said Hopper. “There is still a large portion of buyers sitting on the sidelines waiting to see what happens with the market or hoping for big discounts, but there is also a segment of buyers that remain optimistic about the recovery and are willing to pay fair prices for hotels based on 2019 valuations—with a 5-15% discount applied—for the right property.”
Peppermill Casinos Chooses Agilysys’ rGuest Express
Peppermill Casinos has expanded its existing relationship with Agilysys Inc. by adding the cloud-based SaaS contactless mobile guest self-service check-in/out solution, rGuest Express, at all of its properties.
Agilysys’ rGuest Express helps maintain social distancing and reduces direct contact while speeding guests on their way to enjoying everything the property has to offer. With rGuest Express, Peppermill is able to improve guest satisfaction, promote healthy practices and optimize operations across its properties, the company reports. And when Peppermill is ready to adopt digital keys, rGuest Express is also ready with integration to popular electronic locks as well as mobile ID verification.
Pillows Hotels Implements Ideas RMS
Pillows Hotels has selected Ideas Revenue Management System (RMS) to enhance the hotel chain’s strategy and competitive position in the face of the current industry downturn.
The group has installed the RMS across its eight properties in the Benelux region and is already seeing positive results. Pillows Hotels turned to Ideas’ regional partner KL Consulting for help because some of its smaller properties didn’t have on-site revenue managers. Having an in-country consultant working with remote Ideas teams was integral in helping them set up the software and provided the individual attention needed to get the system up and running efficiently, according to the company.
