NEW YORK—Outrigger Enterprises Group is launching its dedicated beachfront resort brand— Outrigger Resorts—with a property in the Maldives.
The Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort, which is is scheduled to welcome its first guests in July 2015, is currently closed for renovations to an existing property. It consists of 27 beachfront one- and two-bedroom pool villas and 21 overwater pool villas. Upon its opening, it will be supported by a full range of Outrigger Resorts facilities and services, including new dining concepts, a marine education center, a Navasana Spa and retail outlets.
The resort was purchased from Crystal Lagoon Pvt Ltd.
The Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort is the second property for Outrigger in the Indian Ocean, following the purchase and opening of the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa in April.
Occupying the private island of Konotta within the Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, The Outrigger Konotta Maldives Resort is located 211 miles to the south of Malé, the capital of the Maldives and is accessible via a 55-minute flight from Malé to Kaadedhdhoo Airport followed by a 20-minute private boat ride.
Since embarking on its expansion into the Asia-Pacific region in 2008, Outrigger has grown its presence outside of Hawaii to include properties currently open or under development in Phuket and Phi Phi Island, Thailand; Fiji; Australia; Guam; Hainan Island, China; Mauritius; and Vietnam.
