Orbitz Revenue Up on Strength of Airfare Bookings

CHICAGO – Orbitz Worldwide Inc. reported its second quarter earnings recently. The company had net income of $9.7 million, down from $10.3 million in the same period in 2009. Net revenue, however, was up three percent to $193.5 million on the strength of its global bookings, which were up 17 percent. The increase, the company noted, was due primarily to higher airfares and transaction volumes, with airfare booking sup 21 percent, and non-airfare up seven percent.
