INTERNATIONAL REPORT—From Barcelona to Moscow, Hotel Business is tracking recent international hotel openings. Here’s a look at five of them:

Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour

The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour has opened its doors. Centrally located opposite the International Convention Center, the $500-million Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour will play a significant role in the ongoing revitalization of the Darling Harbour precinct, according to the company. It also heralds a spate of new hotel development in Sydney, with more than 40 hotels scheduled to open in the next five years to support the city’s tourism growth.

“Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour is the first new-build five-star hotel the city has seen in more than 15 years and it is going to be a flagship property, not only for AccorHotels but for the Australian hotel industry,” said Simon McGrath, COO of AccorHotels Pacific.

The hotel offers 590 guestrooms, including 35 suites. All the hotel’s guestrooms feature the Sofitel MyBed and floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Darling Harbour and the city. The suites feature an in-bathroom television, double showerheads and high-end soaking tubs.

This new opening marks the fourth hotel in Hyatt’s Russian portfolio joining Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow, Hyatt Regency Ekaterinburg and Hyatt Regency Sochi.

The design is inspired by light and space, creating a relaxing oasis within the busy city, according to the company. OD Barcelona is OD Hotels’ first property on the Spanish mainland. The collection also has hotels in Ibiza and Mallorca.

Four Seasons Hotel Megeve

The Four Seasons Hotel Megeve has opened today in Megeve, France. It’s the only hotel located directly on the slopes of Mont d’Arbois, making it the newest addition to one of Europe’s notable mountain resorts.

With direct access to more than 277 miles of skiing, plus the region’s only in-house ski valet and ski concierge services, Four Seasons is also inviting skiers to experience more remote runs with the new helicopter ski safaris. Accommodations reflect an Alpine theme with a fireplace and balconies, as well as mountain and valley views in 55 guest rooms and suites.

Four Seasons Hotel Tunis

Elsewhere, the Four Seasons Hotel Tunis has opened this month, offering contemporary Arabesque architecture and design details including mashrabiya latticework screens.

In all, there are 203 guest accommodations including 35 suites—Tunisia’s largest, according to the company, and all with terraces or balconies. The presidential suite has a tiered terrace and a private pool for families and entertaining. In addition, there are five F&B options. A spa is inspired by the country’s historic sites and traditions, with many of the 11 treatment rooms opening to terraces with sea views.
