Four U.S. Openings to Know

NATIONAL REPORT—Three hotel openings are on the radar, including the first Moxy on the West Coast, which includes a lobby teeter-totter. Here’s a look at what’s now open.

Moxy Seattle Downtown

Moxy Seattle Downtown is set to open next week, making the experiential brand’s debut on the West Coast. The eight-floor, 146-room hotel will be home to the city’s first hotel teeter-totter.

Targeting a millennial mindset, guests can access a contemporary 24-hour gym; public spaces, including a lobby hosting daily, weekly and monthly activations; and a social bar.

The Western Front Hotel

In St. Paul, VA, The Western Front Hotel, a 1920s-era building with interior design by Interior Image Group (IIG), opens today.

The firm partnered with developers from Creative Boutique Hotels and Cornerstone Hospitality to design the 30-room hotel, transforming it from an old retail and apartment building to a modern destination for outdoor enthusiasts.

Among the amenities are Roost, a hangout including a pool table, dartboard wall and big-screen TVs; Milton’s, the on-site restaurant, which offers farm-to-table and Appalachian cuisine; the indoor Music Hall, which provides private dining or meeting/event space; The Backyard event space, which has live music, lawn games and s’mores by the fire pit; and St. Marie Terrace and the Blue Sulfur Terrace, which offers drinks on the second floor.

AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown

The new AC Hotel Gainesville Downtown, a 144-room property in Florida is slated to open on February 20.

The property will be managed by Concord Hospitality and marks the third AC Hotel in the state and the first outside of Miami.

The hotel has three meeting rooms with 1,500 sq. ft. of flexible indoor space, including a multi-media room, The Wetlands Room, and The Prairie Room, named after Gainesville’s popular nature park, Paynes Prairie, which can be arranged in theater, classroom and conference style settings.

The hotel will also be home to Gainesville’s first rooftop fitness center, a glass-enclosed structure with cardio equipment and a selection of free weights, as well as AC Bar and a rooftop spa pool. The property will be part of the newly constructed The Standard at Gainesville, a 10-story, multi-use complex that includes luxury student housing, shops and restaurants.

Residence Inn New Orleans Elmwood

The newly opened 119-suite Residence Inn New Orleans Elmwood will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by Elmwood Hospitality LLC and managed by Baywood Hotels Inc.

Among the offerings includes a grocery delivery service, complimentary WiFi, 24-hour on-site food and beverage market, dry cleaning services and on-site guest laundry room.
