NATIONAL REPORT—From new positions created to drive growth to shifts in leadership, here’s a look at executives on the move in hospitality:

Remington Taps Jarrad Evans as Chief Investment Officer

Jarrad Evans has joined hotel management company Remington in the newly-created position of chief investment officer.

Evans will lead the strategic growth, development, and investment initiatives for Remington’s growing portfolio of third-party managed independent, soft-branded, and hard-branded hotels and resorts. He is a hospitality industry veteran, and most recently served as SVP of business development and strategy for Benchmark, a global hospitality management firm, where he leveraged his deep industry relationships to drive company growth.

In early June, Ashford Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire the hotel management business of Remington. The transaction, which is expected to close sometime in the fourth quarter of 2019, is subject to approval.

A Leadership Shift at Bluegreen Vacations Corporation

Bluegreen Vacations Corporation revealed that Anthony M. Puleo has informed the company that he will be retiring as EVP, CFO & treasurer effective Sept. 30, 2019. Puleo will stay on in a consulting role as advisor to the president and CEO.

Puleo has been with Bluegreen Vacations for almost 22 years, serving as chief accounting officer from 1997 through April 2005, interim CFO from April 2005 through August 2005 and CFO & treasurer from August 2005 through September 2019. In addition, Puleo has served as president of Bluegreen Treasury Services since 2010 and as the chairman of the executive committee from 2015 through 2017.

The company’s board has appointed Raymond S. Lopez as EVP, CFO & treasurer. Lopez will continue to serve as EVP and CFO of BBX Capital Corporation, the owner of 90.3% of Bluegreen Vacation’s common stock. Prior to joining BBX, Lopez served as chief accounting officer of the company from 2005 through 2015 and as controller from 2004 to 2005.

Hard Rock Names VP of Sales & Marketing – Company Cafes

Hard Rock International appointed Elena Alvarez to VP of sales & marketing – Company Cafes. Alvarez, who has been with Hard Rock for nearly 14 years, previously held the position of director of sales & marketing, Europe, where she managed sales & marketing for Hard Rock Cafe locations in 13 countries across the continent, aligning the organization’s objectives with business strategy through active participation in corporate strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning and budgeting for 24 Hard Rock Cafe locations throughout Europe.

In her new role, Alvarez will be responsible for the entire sales & marketing function for cafe operations, including 43 cafes in North America and 24 cafes in Europe. She will report directly to David Pellow, SVP of cafe operations at Hard Rock International.

CWT Meetings & Events Names VP of Global Operations

CWT M&E, the global meetings and events division of CWT, has named Cristina Scott as VP of global operations. She will report to Derek Sharp, CWT Meetings & Events’ SVP and managing director, and will be based in Southlake, TX.

Scott joins CWT Meetings & Events from Sabre, where she held many commercial management and sales operations roles for the past 24 years.

Teneo Hospitality Group Appoints Director of Sales in Mexico

Teneo Hospitality Group, a global group sales organization, takes another strategic step in its global expansion program with the appointment of Judith Segura as director of sales in Mexico. Based in Quintana Roo on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, Segura will be responsible for developing new international business originating out of Latin America for Teneo member hotels globally.
