INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Three brands have recently signed deals in Vietnam, adding to their rosters in Asia-Pacific.

Avani Hotels & Resorts Signs Three

Avani Hotels & Resorts is strengthening its relationship with Novaland Group in Vietnam with the addition of three new properties coming to Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, and Cam Ranh.

Avani Vung Tau Resort is located in the port city of Vung Tau. It is scheduled to open by the end of 2019 with a combination of 149 oceanfront and hillside rooms.

Scheduled for an opening at the end of 2021, Avani Saigon is located in the historic District 1 of Vietnam’s largest city, Ho Chi Minh, surrounded by a blend of colonial and modern architecture with street-side cafés and coffee shops. The 217-key property will be part of a 38-story mixed-use complex that includes retail shops and residences and will feature an all-day dining restaurant and an Avani Spa.

Avani Cam Ranh Resort & Villas, opening at the end of 2022, sits on the tranquil south-central coast of Vietnam. The resort will feature 300 rooms and suites, as well as 315 private villas, an all-day dining restaurant, a specialty bistro, and a beach club, with meeting and banquet space for beachfront events.

Hyatt Plans Park Hyatt, Hyatt Place in Vietnam

An affiliate of Hyatt Hotels Corp. has entered into an agreement with an affiliate of BIM Group to develop a 110-key Park Hyatt Phu Quoc hotel, as well as 65 residences. Slated to open in 2022, Park Hyatt Phu Quoc will offer two dining outlets, a bar, a poolside barbecue, two swimming pools, a lakeside spa, a gym house with a lap pool, a Camp Hyatt kids’ village, more than 4,300 sq. ft. of event space and an organic farm.

Additionally, a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with an affiliate of Ben Thanh Holdings to develop a Hyatt Place hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. The new 200-­key Hyatt Place Saigon Phu Nhuan will be the first Hyatt Place hotel in Vietnam. The hotel will reside in the Phu Nhuan district, which is considered the geographical center of Ho Chi Minh City due to its central location and accessibility from all the surrounding areas. It will offer a café, grab­-and­-go food market, bar, lobby lounge, outdoor pool, fitness center as well as two meeting rooms.

Meliá Hotels International Reveals Rebrand Plans

Meliá Hotels International has signed a new property in Vietnam, extending the group’s presence in the country where it currently operates six hotels, with a further seven in the pipeline. The company will take over the management of The Reed Hotel, Ninh Binh, Vietnam in May 2019. The new Ninh Binh property will open under the group’s wellness­-focused brand, Meliá Hotels & Resorts, in 2020, following a complete refurbishment.

Meliá Ninh Binh will offer 160 rooms and suites, as well as facilities for meetings and events. Managed by Meliá Hotels International, The Ninh Binh Convention Centre is directly next door to the property, offering further MICE opportunities for business and leisure visitors. Meliá Ninh Binh will have an infinity pool with skyline views, a fitness center and Meliá Hotels & Resorts VIP service, The Level, offering private check-­in and check­out, as well as other exclusive facilities. The property will include an all­-day dining restaurant offering international cuisine, as well as a café and a la carte restaurant serving local specialties.
