PUNTA NIZUC, CANCUN, MEXICO—NIZUC Resort & Spa, formerly a private Mexican presidential retreat, has opened here.
Designed by Alejandro Escudero, the ocean, coastline and natural environment served as inspiration, marrying water and land, according to the company. In addition to a soothing color palette, the resort features organic, rustic furnishings. Natural woods, inspired by the driftwood along the coast, are utilized in furnishings, floors, wall art and extra-large doors.
Each suite features outdoor verandas or decks and bathtubs with deep-soak tubs. The residential buildings have master suites with garden or ocean views, offering a separate dining and seating area and plunge pools. In addition, penthouse suites offer outdoor showers and a separate living room. Pool villas offer a plunge pool, outdoor garden, separate living and bedroom areas and outdoor showers.
The 29-acre, 274-suite resort features six restaurants, three lounges, 109 pools, a 30,000-sq.-ft. spa and children and teen facilities. The F&B options include Ramona, a modern Mexican restaurant; Ni, which serves Peruvian cuisine; Terra Nostra, with Mediterranean fare; Asian-inspired Indochine; Café de la Playa, a brunch offering; and La Punta Grill, which serves casual lunches by the adults-only pool.
NIZUC Spa by ESPA utilizes metal, stone, wood, fire and water. It offers 10 indoor/outdoor treatment rooms, as well as two private villas for couples, a movement studio and a spa café. In addition, it hosts a fitness center and a salon.
The resort is located 10 minutes from Cancun International Airport.
