NAPLES, FL—Vitamin D is known to be the vitamin of the sun and La Playa Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, FL, is embracing its beachfront location to deliver guests just that—a healthy supply of Vitamin D, a nutrient that many are deficient in.
The hotel introduced “Vitamin D Breaks” along with its other wellness initiatives to provide packages for groups more than 10 that encourage guests to not only safely soak in the sun, but to get more of this essential nutrient that aids in calcium absorption and bone health. Many people only need about 15 minutes of sun three times a week for their bodies to make adequate amounts of the vitamin, according to the National Institutes of Health.
“Research is revealing more about the importance of Vitamin D in protecting us against a host of health problems. Unfortunately, Vitamin D deficiency is incredibly common and most people are unaware of it,” said Linda Menshon, director of sales and marketing Noble House Hotels & Resorts.
The package includes a Vitamin D essential oil and lotion package, choice of individual chair massages or 30-minute water yoga class, scrambled egg station, juice bar, and other food and beverage options including chocolate-covered dried oranges, Meyer lemon bars and key lime mini scones and a coffee station.
Menshon explains just how important these breaks are to not only “break” up the workday, but to also aid in relaxation.
“During a full day of meetings, this thoughtful healthy break fosters positive attitudes, revitalizes energy and enhances productivity among participants,” Menshon said.
Revitalization is key here to keep the day going, but La Playa’s Naples location doesn’t hurt. Menshon said that the majority of guests choose La Playa specifically for its tropical beach location, making the relaxation activities included in the package natural extensions of such a secluded, serene environment.
“La Playa Beach and Golf Resort’s unique location allows its guests the perfect combination to become centered within to inspire health awareness and serenity,” Menshon said. “Such experiences are reflected in the many healthful, life-enhancing activities such as fitness programs, nature and wildlife sanctuaries, holistic facilities, urban and rural walking and cycling trails, and kayaking along the mangroves.”
Accompanying these breaks is La Playa Living, a comprehensive wellness campaign that encourages guests and employees to make healthy choices on a daily basis. Guests can use the hashtag #LaPlayaLiving to connect and share with others across social media platforms about wellness.
“People are encouraged to move naturally, eat wisely and connect with one another—all of which can lead to longer and more fulfilling lives,” Menshon said.
