Moxy to Debut in Portland, OR; More Developments…

NATIONAL REPORT—From the West Coast to the South, properties are underway in cities across the U.S. Here’s some developments to watch:

Moxy to Debut in Portland, OR

Graves Hospitality (GH) has broken ground on the Moxy Portland. The 12-story, 197-room hotel, targeted to open in the summer of 2020, is developed, owned and operated by the company in partnership with KCB Real Estate and with funding by clients of Washington Capital Management, a local company. The design and build is a collaboration between DLR Group, Howard S. Wright Construction and Urban Resources Inc.

Moxy Portland will have all-day retail, a full-service bar (which doubles as the check-in desk) and a game room. Design for the new hotel reinforces the locality’s distinguishing characteristics, incorporating food stalls and a street-level bar scene.

Hollywood Hotel Underway

Oxford Capital Group and Oxford Hotels & Resorts plan for The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood, a 220-room  lifestyle hotel in Los Angeles.

Construction of the property is progressing after successfully negotiating the relocation of previous tenants. The prior building was demolished in September 2017 and excavation completed in November 2017. So far this year, the concrete foundation and podium were completed in May and the steel structure was completed with the building’s topping off in July. Oxford plans to complete the building envelope in January, setting the stage for a spring 2019 opening.

The Godfrey Hotel Hollywood’s exteriors are designed by Los Angeles-based Steinberg Hart and its interiors are designed by The Gettys Group of Chicago. Local artists are engaged to create playful “interactive” moments throughout the property, including oversized metallic sculptures and dichroic glass installations. In addition, the hotel will have a courtyard, pool, indoor and outdoor bars and rooftop venues.
