Midtown Athletic Clubs Plans Chicago Hotel

CHICAGO—Midtown Athletic Clubs is planning the construction of Midtown Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown in Chicago. The $75-million project is slated for completion in July 2017 and will include additions and renovations to Midtown’s flagship property, which was originally constructed in 1970.

Evanston-based DMAC Architecture is the architect and interior designer of Midtown Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown, and the entire shopping complex surrounding the property. The company tapped tennis star Venus Williams for the project, hiring her interior design firm, V STARR Interiors, to design the club’s Tennis Lounge and The V Suite—one of the hotel’s four private suites. Williams played on Midtown’s courts as a junior tennis star alongside her sister Serena. Midtown will also feature EleVen by Venus Williams, Williams’ active wear line, at the club’s boutique shop.

When complete, Midtown Athletic Club and The Hotel at Midtown will be the largest premier health-and-fitness property in the U.S. at more than 575,000 sq. ft., according to the company.
