HAPUNA BEACH, HI—Mauna Kea Resort LLC has signed a franchise agreement with Westin Hotels & Resorts to debut the wellness hospitality brand on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel will undergo a $46-million renovation and conversion to become The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort by February of 2018. The hotel will remain part of Prince Resorts Hawaii. Beginning as early as September, the hotel will participate in the SPG loyalty program.
Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel shares 1,839 acres of oceanfront property with the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, which was the first resort on the island built in 1965 by Laurence S. Rockefeller. The historic and storied hotel, now part of Autograph Collection Hotels, has two championship golf courses, luxury residences, townhomes and villas.
