Mattress Concierge, Gold Bond partner for new hotel collections

Hospitality supplier Mattress Concierge has redesigned its Luxury and Classic Collections to meet the growing needs of travelers. In cooperation with exclusive manufacturing partner Gold Bond, both collections use enhanced, durable materials for luxury and boutique hotel bedding.

Exclusive to Mattress Concierge, the Luxury and Classic Collections will be constructed with Quantum Edge Elite coils surrounding the Bolsa innerspring coil system, both from Leggett & Platt, along with six-gauge steel border rods and up to 10 steel edge guards.

These materials enhance the mattresses’ durability, said Paige Kellogg, co-owner/director, Mattress Concierge, and the inner cores also include 10 pounds of natural cotton and two layers of high-density comfort foam, which add to both the overall comfort and the longevity of the mattress.

“When launching Mattress Concierge, there was considerable effort to evaluate manufacturers,” Kellogg said. “What was immediately clear from this exercise was that Gold Bond was willing to be creative, embrace the hospitality business and work with us to design the best mattresses with the finest materials.”

Additionally, Gold Bond allows Mattress Concierge to operate from its offices and maintain a showroom close to the factory. “This has created a seamless partnership, and one clients and prospective customers immediately experience,” she said. “We maintain an open-door policy and invite anyone to visit us, experience the product and tour the factory for a firsthand look at the manufacturing process.”

Founded in 2010, Mattress Concierge was born out of the desire to exclusively serve independent hospitality companies from boutique to luxury to resorts. Furthermore, it’s always been in Mattress Concierge’s DNA to give each client specific care and attention to detail.

“Our clients care deeply about the overall guest experience, from incorporating unique touches in discrete places to the largest, most important features,” Kellogg said. “We believe the sleep experience plays an integral role in guest enjoyment, resulting in subsequent visits and loyal guests.”

The key difference in big-box and big-brand bedding is the design, she added, and major manufacturers have changed their designs to foam enhancement. “What this really means is the removal of strong, durable and expensive steel to be replaced with foam, which is attached with glue and degrades over time with movement and body heat,” she explained. “In addition, foam encasement cannot stand up to the more stressful wear on the edge of the bed. Mattress Concierge will never compromise on our design feature—no foam encasement—and it sets us apart in the industry.”

Sustainability is also top of mind for Mattress Concierge. Its Organic Mattress is composed of 100% natural Talalay latex and cotton and wool certified as organic by the Global Organic Textiles Standard (GOTS).

“This product was inspired by a customer who had stayed at a luxury resort, where she had slept on the company’s Luxury Plush mattress but wished for an organic version,” Kellogg said, and so, Mattress Concierge and Gold Bond developed this design.

“What’s unique about the Organic mattress is the use of a short inner-spring system to increase durability,” she said. “Although some may question how a steel innerspring system can be organic, we considered this and sourced an innerspring made from recycled steel. Always wanting to be environmentally conscience, this effort is consistent with our commitment to materials exclusively from the U.S., most located within 150 miles of the factory to reduce our carbon footprint.”

As for bedding trends, Kellogg said it’s all about the mattress encasements, always recommending to clients to use an encasement to not only protect their investment, but to keep their housekeeping staff and guests safe.

“With the concern around COVID-19, mattress encasements have become increasingly critical,” she said. “We are currently working with one of the largest resorts on the East Coast to supply their property with encasements from our partner CleanBrands. We chose CleanBrands because they offer an amazing product that is soft and breathable while being waterproof. The CleanRest Pro mattress encasement is the only CDC certified—ASTM Level 4 certification—penetration testing against liquid, blood and bacteriophage (virus including influenzas and COVID-19).”

She added that CleanBrands’ mattress encasements also stop allergens, dust mites and bed bugs.
“Hoteliers want their guest to be confident they are sleeping in a clean and safe environment, and a quality mattress encasement is an essential component of that,” she said.
