Mashpi Lodge Joins National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World

QUITO, ECUADOR—Mashpi Lodge here has become a charter/founding member of National Geographic Society’s foray into travel experiences: National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World, a collection of boutique hotels with a commitment to sustainability, authenticity and excellence.

Located inside a protected private reserve in the Equatorial Chocó Bio-Region, Mashpi Lodge was built with eco-construction techniques and materials and conceived around sound environmental and social practices.

Mashpi Lodge was selected for the collection following a rigorous evaluation process. The initial collection—24 properties on six continents—further builds National Geographic’s travel portfolio, which includes National Geographic Expeditions, Traveler magazine, travel books, photography courses and the @NatGeoTravel digital and photography community.
