COLLEGE PARK, MD—College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center has completed a multi-phase, multi-year renovation. The two-building retreat at the University of Maryland University College and adjacent to the University of Maryland College Park campus began the renovation in 2012.
“We’ve changed everything to present an enhanced guest experience, whether you are here for a business meeting or wedding, or to visit the local community and DC attractions,” says Mike McCarthy, general manager at the College Park hotel.
The final phase features 126 newly renovated guestrooms. The rooms feature a palette of navy, green and crimson; built-in custom storage and work areas; iHome keyboard docking stations; and art inspired by the collections of the hotel’s owner, the University of Maryland University College. Approximately 76 tubs have been removed to make way for showers in new tile and marble bathrooms.
Among the other new features are a complimentary computer station in the Concierge Lounge; a completely redone Presidential Suite with a new design, wet bar and a powder room for the parlor and enlarged bathroom in the bedroom portion, as well as a meeting/dining table and chrome accents; and upgrades to the . main lobby.
The hotel also offers The Common, a three-meal modern American pub and kitchen featuring locally sourced cuisine and artisan drinks; the new, 6,700-sq.-ft. Potomac Ballroom; the renovated 8,200-sq.-ft. Chesapeake Ballroom; a new 250-seat conference dining room; and 18 redecorated meeting rooms.
