Marietta Partners On Amenities Recycling Program

CORTLAND, NY—Marietta Corp. and TerraCycle have partnered on a new recycling program around hotel amenities in which collected containers wouldl be recycled into new products such as hangers, ice buckets and recycling bins to be used in hotel rooms.
Marietta has a strong commitment to green initiatives, and finding a way to reduce plastics and packaging in landfills has been a priority for the company as part of its Social Responsibility Plan, according to the company.
“Marietta was intent on lessening the hospitality industry’s carbon footprint and so we both took a look at how we could work together to make a difference,” says Tom Szaky, TerraCycle CEO. “The fact they are offering this solution to their hotel partners and then having us make new products with the recycled plastic reduces or eliminates the use and production of virgin materials.”
Marietta reportedly is in talks with its hotel partners to begin implementing the amenity reclamation program.
