NATIONAL REPORT—While Texas and Florida recover following the impact of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, hotel owners are continuing to look to management companies to meet their needs for the future.
In Florida, the Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place in Melbourne has contracted third-party hotel management company HP Hotels, making it the second full-service Hilton to join HP’s portfolio in the last 12 months.
The 237-room hotel received comprehensive renovations and updates totaling $6 million and included upgrades to all guestrooms, which received new casegoods packages, new soft goods and window treatments. The lobby, patio bar and conference center also were refreshed, incorporating an open design and lobby bar. An executive lounge was added to the concierge floor.
The Hilton Melbourne Rialto Place includes 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, tennis and basketball courts, a 24-hour fitness center, an all-weather heated pool and a restaurant.
In Texas, Atlanta-based Hotel Equities is now managing the 190-room SpringHill Suites by Marriott Houston Med Center/NRG Park hotel.
The hotel, owned by Quyp Hospitality, marks HE’s third hotel in metro Houston and 23rd in the state.
Joe Reardon, SVP/business development and marketing for Hotel Equities, noted, “The property enjoys the benefits of a vibrant sub-market in Houston that includes the medical center, the popular NRG Park and a variety of demand generators to assure its continued success.”
Joe Whalen, president of Quyp Hospitality, said, “Our property improvement plans are moving ahead and we are very excited about getting started on renovating this well-positioned hotel in the Houston market. We have full confidence in our managing partners, Hotel Equities, as we continue to grow in the Midwest and western part of the U.S.”
