NEW YORK— A man jumped to his death yesterday from the 29th floor of the New York Marriott Marquis hotel in Times Square here. He landed on a ninth-floor balcony overlooking the bar. According to a report on April 5 at nypost.com , the jumper— identified by police as Greg Ellyn, 42, of Forest Hills, Queens, NY— leapt to his death shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday. He left behind a rambling, scrawled note in his room saying he was deeply despondent and depressed following the death of his mother, police said. Moments after Ellyn jumped, staff members shut down the glass elevators that overlook the atrium, and used sheets to cover the area where he landed. Police said Ellyn had been in and out of psychiatric care following the death of his mother, who died in a car crash near Albany, NY last year.
