Loews Kansas City Opens its Doors; More Hotel Debuts

NATIONAL REPORT—As cities across the U.S. begin to reopen, hotels are setting down roots. Here’s a look at properties that are opening their doors:

Loews Kansas City Hotel Opens its Doors
Loews Hotels & Co New York has opened the Loews Kansas City Hotel. The hotel debuts with 800 guestrooms and 60,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space, which connects directly to the Kansas City Convention Center via a new connector bridge. The hotel will eventually have four dining and lounge options, a fitness center, indoor lap pool and spa. The hotel is owned and operated by Loews Hotels & Co and was developed by KC Hotel Developers LLC. The hotel is also in walking distance to the Kansas City Power & Light District, Sprint Center, KC Streetcar and the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. JE Dunn constructed the 24-story Loews Kansas City, with Cooper Carry Architects and Looney & Associates designing the property.

Frampton Construction Wraps Project in Panama City Beach, FL
Construction is complete on a 124-room TownePlace Suites (TPS) by Marriott in Panama City Beach, FL. Frampton Construction Company LLC partnered with Cardella Construction to complete the project. The St. Joe Company and InterMountain Management LLC were development partners for the project. The approximately 70,000-sq.-ft., four-story hotel is located adjacent to Frank Brown Park, a 200-acre outdoor recreation facility. The hotel also provides access to nearby Pier Park, a shopping and entertainment destination. The hotel includes a fitness center, pool and business center. HC Architecture crafted the design for the hotel.

My Place Hotels Debuts in Virginia
My Place Hotels of America has opened My Place Hotel in King George, VA. The 64-unit, three-story hotel was developed by MP King George LLC, built by Celtic Services Inc. and is operated by Cornerstone Hospitality. The hotel is close to the U.S. Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, VA; Fredericksburg, VA; Washington, DC; and across the Potomac River to Maryland.

The Roundtree Opens in the Hamptons
The Roundtree in Amagansett, NY, is now open. Set on two acres of land along Main St., the year-round 15-accommodation boutique hotel has newly renovated rooms and suites housed within private cottages and barn. The property is close to wineries and restaurants.

Quirk Hotel Charlottesville Reopens in Charlottesville, VA
Quirk Hotel Charlottesville is now open in Charlottesville, VA. Having officially opened March 5, only to enter temporary closure less than two weeks later as COVID-19 took hold of the world, Charlottesville’s first boutique art hotel will offer an escape into historic downtown and inside the playful design of this new hotel.

The Lytle Park Hotel to Debut in Cincinnati
The Lytle Park Hotel, part of the Autograph Collection, is a collaboration between two historic buildings and Lytle Park just outside its doors. The property has plans to open on June 3 and will feature 106 guestrooms, including 18 two-bedroom suites, a wine and cocktail bar, restaurant and lounge and a rooftop bar and event space offering views of Lytle Park, downtown Cincinnati and the Ohio River.

The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park Takes Root in El Paso, TX
The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park is a newly restored, historic boutique property located in El Paso, TX, set to open on June 17. Set in the heart of downtown’s Las Plazas Arts District, the 130-room architectural landmark originally opened in 1930. The Plaza will complete its final stages of a complete restoration with the addition of two restaurants and bars.
