Karisma Unveils VIP Package to Help Guests Celebrate

RIVIERA MAYA, MEXICO—With a reputation rooted in superior service, Generations Riviera Maya, an all-inclusive resort here, is looking to take it to another level with the introduction of a new promotion called Celebrations—designed to give guests a taste of the celebrity lifestyle when celebrating their birthday.

Launched last month by Karisma Hotels & Resorts—which owns and manages the property—the VIP Celebration Packages include two options, “The Best Birthday Ever” and “Star for a Day.” Each package can be customized to fit all ages and is complimentary for guests when they book a two-bedroom suite for four nights or longer during the month of their birthday.

Generations Riviera Maya is a 144-suite luxury resort, which stretches along a secluded beach on the Mexican Caribbean. The property offers one-, two- and three-bedroom oceanfront suites with unlimited butler service, infinity pool balconies, gourmet restaurants and opulent bars, according to the company.

Karisma owns and operates a number of luxury resorts in Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe, but Rafael Feliz Jr., corporate brand manager, noted this particular resort really inspired the promotion. “Generations is a property that really lends itself to Celebrations. It has several pools that go up to the fourth floor, as well as four restaurants. It has a great bar that feels like you’re right in the middle of New York City, and it has beach beds all over the place. It basically has that feel of an upscale, party scene kind of place,” he said.

The “Best Birthday Ever” package offers adults a private cocktail and hors d’ oeuvres party, a beach cabana for the day, a special chef-inspired dinner and gourmet birthday cake, welcome champagne and turn-down service. The birthday guest will also receive a VIP pass that includes a variety of amenities from free WiFi to discounted snorkeling, 2-for-1 spa treatments and a limited-edition T-shirt. Guests will also leave with professional photos from their group photo shoot.

Meanwhile, the “Star for a Day” package breaks out piñatas, capes and crowns. Kids can choose from an array of birthday party themes from a piñata party to a mini disco party. Also included in the package is a family dinner reservation and gourmet birthday cake with candles. Other components of the program include a private beach cabana for a day, a family photo shoot and a VIP Birthday Pass that offers discounts, including horseback riding, snorkeling, free WiFi and 50% off specialty kid’s spa treatments.

When asked if the package would require any additional efforts or resources from the hotel in terms of service, Feliz Jr. said, “In our DNA, we already have excellent service. This hotel is the first true all-butler resort in all of Mexico.”

Feliz Jr. noted that while the program was only recently rolled out, interest has been strong. “Bookings have gone up, people have started to celebrate. We’ve had a birthday a week since we launched this week three weeks ago,” he said.

He also noted the resort has hosted “a lot of celebrities,” citing such dignitaries as Jeremy Sumpter, known for his role in Peter Pan; former N’Sync member Joey Fatone; and Derrick Levasseur from Big Brother.

He noted the company is promoting the package through a number of means, including social media, an upcoming online media campaign, as well as a dedicated website including detailed information. Feliz Jr. noted the company has discussed expanding the program in the future to include other milestones, such as anniversaries.
