In the North, Hotel Openings Abound

NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel activity is heating up in the Northern U.S. ahead of the summer travel season, including cities such as Boston, New York and Rhode Island. Here’s a closer look at projects opening up in the region.

Encore Boston Harbor Sets Summer Opening

Encore Boston Harbor is scheduled to open its doors on June 23.

The resort will have a 210,000-sq.-ft. casino; 15 dining and lounge venues; 671 guestrooms and suites; 50,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor event space; a spa; and a four-season, six-acre Harborwalk, featuring pedestrian and bike paths, picnic park, gazebo, viewing decks, waterfront dining, and green space with floral displays.

Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street

Rising 61 stories above the Back Bay neighborhood, the Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston has 215 hotel rooms and suites with floor-­to-­ceiling windows.

There’s also state-of-the-art soundproofing between floors and rooms and precision glazed windows, as well as in room technologies. Other amenities include a full­-floor spa and wellness center with an indoor pool, light-­filled event spaces. For dining, there’s also the Zuma restaurant.

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark Opens

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark is now open. Fusing the style of Manhattan with the rustic charm of the mountains, this new luxe family resort has 324 all-suite accommodations; a two-acre indoor waterpark; indoor entertainment center including arcade, mini bowling and ropes course; seven restaurants and bars; a spa; 11,000 sq. ft. conference center, and more. It is located 90 minutes outside of New York City on 1,600 acres in Monticello, NY. 

Lark Hotels Opens Third Property in Newport, RI

Lark Hotels, the boutique hotel company with more than 20 properties in New England and beyond, has opened its third Newport, RI property—The Cliffside Inn.

Originally a 1876 Victorian manor that housed former Maryland Governor Thomas Swann and artist Beatrice Turner, The Cliffside Inn’s interior melds historic elements with modern touches. The year-round hotel is proximate to Newport’s scenic Cliff Walk, coastline, and ornate mansions. In addition to The Cliffside Inn, Lark Hotels operates sister Newport properties The Attwater and Gilded.
