IHG Reveals Strong Portfolio Growth

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—At the 2017 Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP), InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) revealed a series of signings and significant portfolio growth. Here’s a look at what’s new at IHG’s family of brands:

IHG’s Resort Portfolio Grows

IHG revealed significant growth to its resort portfolio with the signing of new properties in Southeast Asia: InterContinental Sapa Resort, Holiday Inn Resort Sapa and Hotel Indigo Phu Quoc Starbay, all in Vietnam.

“It’s fantastic to be bringing new brands to new markets with new and existing partners as we continue to drive scale and brand preference as part of our global strategy. Resorts provide a halo effect to our brands, attract high value global travelers and enable our guests to explore new destinations,” said Rajit Sukumaran, chief development officer, Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA), IHG. “With these new resort signings, we are excited to be expanding our resorts portfolio.”

Even Hotels Debuts in Greater China

IHG’s wellness and lifestyle brand Even Hotels has launched in Greater China with the signing of a number of management contracts. The region’s first four Even Hotels properties will be located in Shanghai, Sanya, Chongqing and Jinan.

Kimpton Heads to Asia

IHG has signed three management contracts to introduce its luxury boutique hotel brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, to Asia. The first Kimpton properties in the region will be located in prime markets in Southeast Asia and Greater China. They include Kimpton Shanghai Jing’an and Kimpton Resort Sanya Haitang Bay in China, opening in 2021, and Kimpton Bali, opening in Indonesia in 2019.

Openings in U.S., Australia, Brazil

The Kimpton Sawyer Hotel has opened in Sacramento, CA. Developed by the Sacramento Kings and JMA Ventures LLC, the 250-room boutique hotel held its grand opening today. It is the newest addition in the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants portfolio and joins Golden 1 Center in Downtown Commons (DOCO), Sacramento’s emerging lifestyle, culture and entertainment district.

InterContinental Perth City Centre has opened, marking the brand’s sixth hotel in Australia. Situated near The King Street Precinct with a heritage streetscape of theaters, cafés and luxe retailers, the new 240-room property was designed by Woods Bagot with interiors by Chada. The 16-story property combines distinctly West Australian details with global design and hospitality experiences.

Elsewhere, the new-build 209-room Holiday Inn Goiânia has opened. This is IHG’s eighth Holiday Inn property in Brazil and the first IHG hotel in the midwestern city of Goiânia, located about 130 miles from Brasilia, the nation’s capital. The new hotel is centrally situated near the city’s main thoroughfares and is close to the Feira do Sol and Feira da Lua, the Bougainville Shopping mall and local parks.
