Hyatt’s Family of Brands Grows Abroad

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hyatt is plotting growth with brand openings across the globe. From the Middle East to Canada to Asia, here’s a look at recent openings, brand firsts and projects in the works:

Andaz Dubai The Palm to Open This Year

A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with wasl Asset Management Group, a real estate development and management companies in Dubai, for the development of an Andaz branded hotel on the Palm Jumeirah. Occupying real estate on the man-made island, Andaz Dubai The Palm is slated to open in the last quarter of this year, becoming the first Andaz branded hotel in Dubai and the second Andaz hotel in the United Arab Emirates, joining Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi. The hotel will have twin 15-story towers inclusive of 217 guestrooms and 116 serviced apartments, four restaurants as well as a fitness center, spa and meeting facilities.

Andaz Toronto Yorkville Marks Brand’s Entry into City

A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Mizrahi Developments to build a 160-room luxury Andaz hotel at One Bloor S. West in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Slated to open in 2022, the first Andaz hotel in Toronto will be the hotel component of The One, a commercial and residential luxury mixed-use tower that is expected to be the tallest building in Canada, upon completion. The hotel will occupy floors four through 16 of the mixed-use tower, with more than 15 luxury suites, more than 12,000 sq. ft. of event and conference space, food and beverage experiences, a spa and more.

Andaz Brand Sets Roots in Austria 

Hyatt has opened Andaz Vienna Am Belvedere, marking the Andaz brand’s entry into Austria. Located in the new Quartier Belvedere, the property is the fourth Andaz branded hotel in Europe, joining Andaz London Liverpool Street, Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht and the recently opened Andaz Munich Schwabinger Tor. The hotel has 303 guestrooms, food and beverage options, 2,604 sq. ft. (242 sq. m.) of meeting and event space and wellness and fitness centers.

Hyatt Centric Brand Expands into Italy With Two Openings

Hyatt has opened Italy’s first two Hyatt Centric branded hotels—Hyatt Centric Murano Venice and Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale. The hotels have 119 and 141 guestrooms, respectively. Hyatt Centric Murano Venice, Hyatt’s first hotel in Venice, is located in Murano. The hotel is close to the  Murano Glass Museum and Basílica dei Santi María e Donato. The hotel has wellness facilities that include a sauna, Turkish bath and fitness center. Hyatt Centric Milan Centrale is in the Porta Nuova district, close to the metro and Central Station. The property has a rooftop bar, a Roman bath with jetted tub, as well as a sauna, Turkish bath, salt cave and a relaxation room.

Hyatt Plans for Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu

A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with a wholly owned subsidiary of Hap Seng Consolidated Berhad group to develop a Hyatt Centric hotel in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. Expected to open in 2021, Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu will be the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Malaysia. The hotel will have an all-day lounge and restaurant, more than 1,900 sq. ft. (600 sq. m.) of meeting space, a rooftop swimming pool and bar with views of the South China Sea and a fitness center. The hotel is close to the commercial district, shopping malls and restaurants.

Hyatt Place Dubai/Wasl District Opens its Doors

Hyatt has opened the Hyatt Place Dubai/Wasl District, marking the third property under Hyatt’s select service brand portfolio in the United Arab Emirates. Located in the heart of Deira in Old Dubai, the property is close to the heritage and diving village, the Creek, the spice and gold souks as well as numerous retail, dining and entertainment outlets. The hotel has 202 guestrooms, food and beverage options, a gym, meeting space and a rooftop swimming pool.

Hyatt Place Liuzhou Comes to Southwest China

Hyatt Place Liuzhou is officially open, marking the debut of the brand in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Southwest China. The hotel is close to the commercial center, entertainment complex and tourist attractions. The hotel has 245 guestrooms, food and beverage options, meeting space and a gym.

Hyatt Regency Liberation Square Opens in Chinese Mega-City Chongqing

Hyatt has opened the Hyatt Regency Liberation Square Chongqing in the metropolis in western China. The Hyatt Regency Liberation Square Chongqing is part of Chongqing Metropolitan Oriental Plaza with access to a premier shopping mall and a Grade A office tower housing key consulates and multinational corporations. The hotel has 308 guestrooms, food and beverage options and meeting space.

Hyatt Regency Beijing Shiyuan Opens in Beijing’s Nature Retreat

Hyatt has opened the Hyatt Regency Beijing Shiyuan, located in the Yanqing District of China’s capital city. Yanqing is known as an imperial retreat, surrounded by mountains, rivers and wildlife. The hotel has 283 guestrooms, meeting space, food and beverage options and is proximate to the Great Wall of China.

Hyatt Debuts in Algeria with Airport Hotel

Hyatt has opened the first Hyatt hotel in Algeria, Hyatt Regency Algiers Airport. Operated under a management agreement with Société d’Investissement Hôtelière EPE SPA, the hotel adds to Hyatt’s growing brand presence across Africa, joining Hyatt’s existing seven properties in Africa. Located at Houari Boumediene Airport in Algiers, Algeria, the 320-room hotel is in close proximity to the newest terminal, and is the only hotel linked to the terminal. The hotel also has a Regency Club lounge, a swimming pool and a 23,680-sq.-ft. (2,200-sq.-m.) lobby.
