Hyatt expands international footprint

Hyatt Hotels has added a Hyatt Place-branded property in Russia, while adding a new hotel in China and planning to welcome the Hyatt House brand in Johannesburg.

Hyatt Place Ekaterinburg
Hyatt Place Ekaterinburg, the second Hyatt-branded property in the Russian city, has officially opened. The hotel has been developed by LLC Hotel Development Company.

The city of Ekaterinburg is one of the major gateways between Europe and Asia and an important stop along the Trans-Siberian Railway. Being in the fourth largest city in Russia, Hyatt Place Ekaterinburg’s opening marks a significant milestone in Hyatt’s growth strategy.

The 146-room hotel’s offers a free daily breakfast buffet and has 4,200 sq. ft of flexible, high-tech meeting/function space and a 24/7 fitness center .

Hyatt Regency Guangzhou Zengcheng
The 408-room Hyatt Regency Guangzhou Zengcheng  in China has opened.

Zengcheng has recently emerged as an important industrial and commercial center of Guangzhou. The city is also part of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) of South China, which integrates three high-speed national railways, two twin-city rails and four subway lines, linking the major cities of Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Aside from its modern evolution, Zengcheng—traditionally known for being the home of the lychee fruit—holds historical significance as the center of Lingnan culture and is a place of natural beauty given its close proximity to the Nanxiangshan Forest Park scenic area.

The hotel’s 408 guestrooms, including 21 suites, feature an infusion of traditional Lingnan culture with colorful artworks that depict details of the local architecture and nature. All guestrooms offer smart technology, including a 65-inch LED TV with international satellite channels and JBL Bluetooth stereo speakers.

The hotel offers 31,528 sq. ft. (2,929 square meters) of venues for meetings, events and weddings. The 9,149-sq.ft. Regency Ballroom features floor-to-ceiling windows, natural light and a foyer suitable for large exhibitions. There are also eight multifunction rooms and a 4,855-sq.-ft. outdoor event garden.

Hyatt House Johannesburg Sandton
A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with an affiliate of Millat Properties for Hyatt House Johannesburg Sandton. The planned opening of the property will mark the introduction of Hyatt’s select-service, extended-stay brand to the continent and the third Hyatt-branded hotel in South Africa.

Slated to open in October, the hotel will be situated in the Sandton area, where business and leisure tourism blends together in Africa’s economical hub. The hotel will have 43 studio guestrooms and 19 apartment-style suites, all with fully equipped kitchens and separate living areas.

Additional amenities will include a unique concept for an alternative dining experience in the Treehouse; H Market offering grab-and-go snacks and drinks; a fitness center; and an outdoor swimming pool.
