Hotel Meets Wireless Needs for The Big Game

LIVERPOOL, NY—When the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown expected a surge in wireless demand as fans converged in the city for the Super Bowl LIII, reinforcements were called in.

Wireless solutions provider JMA Wireless was tapped by Halo by Mobile RF, provider of turnkey wireless real estate sector solutions, to deploy an in-building wireless network at the property, helping to power the 500,000-sq.-ft. facility.

JMA Wireless is no stranger to the wireless needs of high-profile events, delivering wireless coverage and capacity (distributed antenna systems) to the hospitality industry since 2013.

“We’ve worked on more than 90 hotel projects during the last six years,” said Todd Landry, VP, product & market strategy, JMA Wireless.

In addition to hotels and the Super Bowl venues themselves, JMA Wireless has enabled mobile connectivity at many public venues located in the host cities. Recent stadium deployments include Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, CA, and U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN.

“Guests, fans and tenants all demand mobile connectivity—especially when they want to share the excitement of the Super Bowl. We’re proud to assist venue owners in giving their customers fast connectivity,” said Landry.

“Our recent hotel updates have all been made with our guests in mind,” said Antonio Jones, general manager at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown. “The Halo team in conjunction with JMA Wireless enhanced our guests’ experience further with the deployment of the Teko DAS, which delivered seamless mobile connectivity throughout our facility.”

To best support the hotel’s needs during the big game, Halo monitored the DAS system 24/7 to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

“Halo committed significant planning, support, execution and resources to the design, deployment and successful launch of the multi-carrier DAS infrastructure at Crowne Plaza Atlanta Midtown,” said Tony Schaffer, EVP and chief development officer of Halo by Mobile RF.

Even when there isn’t a national event happening, wireless is critical to the guest experience. Adequate preparation is key for all hotel events—large and small—as well as day-to-day activity.

“Today, hotels and hospitality venues are expected to provide a seamless wireless experience without dropped calls,” said Schaffer. “High bandwidth cellular and wireless data connectivity is mandatory for the guests and customers the moment they arrive and enter through the hotel lobby, into guestrooms and meeting areas. These expectations exist because hotel guests demand cellular coverage and connectivity wherever they go. Hotel owners engage Halo by Mobile RF to help solve these challenges.

“It’s never too early to prepare for the demands of your customers,” he continued. “Having exceptional mobile and wireless coverage and network capacity is no longer a ‘nice to have.’ It’s a requirement.”
