Hotels Open in California

NATIONAL REPORT—Hotels are opening up and down the California coast. Here’s a look:

Hotel E

Greystone Hotels, in partnership with Hugh Futrell Corporation, has opened Hotel E, an upscale boutique property in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa featuring of 39 guestrooms, ample meeting space and a lobby wine bar. With a Spring 2020 expansion on the horizon, Hotel E will soon include a rooftop bar, Perry’s restaurant, Starbucks, and two top-floor suites for a grand total of 70 guestrooms.

Located on Courthouse Square, Hotel E brings new life to the town’s Empire Building, formerly housing a bank, college and law firm. Built in 1908, the historic Empire Building has been restored and preserved in its newest iteration, including the return of the building’s iconic clocktower to its former glory.

The interior design of Hotel E, realized by Jacqueline McGee of Ealain Studio, was inspired by the high-end local homes of Sonoma County.

Dual-Branded Residence Inn and Fairfield by Marriott in San Jose, CA

Marriott International Inc. has opened a LEED-Certified, dual-branded 147-suite Residence Inn by Marriott hotel and 114-room Fairfield by Marriott in San Jose, CA. Owned by InfiniPower Hospitality Group and managed by Johnson Hospitality, equity for the construction of the hotels was provided by Canyon Partners Real Estate LLC.

The solar-powered, energy efficient properties share an outdoor swimming pool, an outdoor patio with built in BBQ’s and a fire pit, basketball court and putting green. The property features a full-service bar centrally located in the lobby, two meeting rooms with a combined 1,125 sq. ft. of meeting space to accommodate events for up to 72 people, and a well-equipped fitness center.

AC Hotel Los Angeles South Bay

The 180-room AC Hotel Los Angeles South Bay has officially opened its doors in El Segundo, CA. The new-build lifestyle property, part of AC Hotels by Marriott, is located in South Bay, a growing business and entertainment destination close to the coast and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

Developed and managed by El Segundo-based Welcome Group, the six-story, design-led hotel offers a scenic rooftop, state-of-the-art fitness center, tech-friendly and flexible meeting spaces, and guestroom options ranging from pet-friendly to sky-high ceilings.

Hyatt Centric Mountain View

Hyatt Hotels Corp. has opened Hyatt Centric Mountain View. Located in the Village at San Antonio Center, the 167-room hotel marks the lifestyle brand’s first property in Silicon Valley, CA, and its fourth in the state. OTO Development developed Hyatt Centric Mountain View with project partners including CallisonRTKL, architect; Studio HBA, interior designer; and Lusardi Construction Co., general contractor. OTO operates the hotel.

Hyatt Centric Mountain View comprises 167 modern, streamlined rooms and suites, a fitness center equipped with LifeFitness machines, a 24/7 business center and a second-level terrace with heated pool, firepit and life-size games. The hotel also offers full-service catering and lively meeting spaces, both inside and out, divided into 11 distinct settings for everything from corporate functions to social gatherings. The Cloud Ballroom features floor-to-ceiling glass walls that slide open to access al fresco seating.

Fairchilds Public House, the hotel’s restaurant and bar, serves up locally sourced California cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. View On 2 offers cabana-style drinks and dishes on the second-floor terrace, with views of the Santa Cruz Mountains.

Hyatt Centric Mountain View was built to LEED-Silver standards.
