NATIONAL REPORT—Texas is seeing hotel activity with recent openings in major cities. Here’s a closer look at the hotels popping up in the Lone Star state.
Proper Brings Brand to Austin
Austin Proper is now open, the first Proper hotel outside of California. The new building is the first LEED Gold-certified, sustainable hotel in the area and consists of 244 rooms and 79 suites, as well as 99 luxury Proper-branded residences, All interiors were cultivated by Kelly Wearstler.
The property has food and beverage options, 14,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor meeting space, a gym, pool and a spa set to open in the spring. The property is close to Lady Bird Lake, hike and bike trails, shopping and live entertainment.
Dual-Brand to Debut in Austin
The Otis Hotel, Autograph Collection, and AC Hotel Austin-University, a dual-branded hotel located in Austin’s campus district, is set to debut Feb. 20. The 11-story property brings four new restaurants and bars, as well as 347 new rooms to the city—The Otis Hotel with 191 rooms, including 13 suites and 16 corner studios, and AC Hotel Austin-University with 156 rooms, including two suites. The Otis Hotel has more than 7,100 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space. Both hotels were developed and are managed by White Lodging.
Comfort Hotels Continues Expansion with Austin and San Antonio Openings
Comfort hotels, franchised by Choice Hotels International Inc., continues to expand with the opening of hotels in Austin and San Antonio. The newly built Comfort Suites in Cedar Park, TX, just outside of Austin, and Comfort Suites in San Antonio are the latest to open as part of the brand’s multiyear transformation, with modern rooms and public spaces, as well as the new Comfort logo.
Comfort Suites in Cedar Park has 78 rooms, and is close to the University of Texas at Austin, Texas State Capitol and the regional offices of major technology companies: Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook, among others.
Comfort Suites in San Antonio has 70 rooms, and is close to the San Antonio International Airport and downtown San Antonio, which is home the Alamo, San Antonio River Walk, San Antonio Zoo and the AT&T Center.
The Comfort Suites in Cedar Park was developed by Kulwinder Binning and Kamaldeep Gill of Karma Builders LLC, and the Comfort Suites in San Antonio was developed by Rikesh Patel and Ami Patel of Alyssa Hotels Unlimited LLC.
Fairfield Expands Brand in Arlington, TX
The 110-room Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Arlington, TX is now open. The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Dallas Arlington South will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Chase Hospitality LLC of Irving, TX.
The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Dallas Arlington South is close to AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, Six Flags Over Texas, Epic Waters Indoor Water Park, downtown Fort Worth and downtown Dallas. The property has an outdoor swimming pool, a fitness center, a full-service bar and restaurant, business services and 2,400 sq. ft. of meeting space.
Fairfield Property Opens in Hurst, TX
The 72-room Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Hurst, TX, is now open. Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Fort Worth Northeast will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by CN Churchill II LLC and managed by Abcons Corporation. The property is close to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport downtown Fort Worth, the Northeast Mall, iFly, AT&T Stadium, among other attractions. In addition, the hotel has an indoor swimming pool and hot tub, a fitness center, a business services and 300 sq. ft. of meeting space.
TownePlace Suites Moves into El Paso, TX
Marriott International’s TownePlace Suites by Marriott El Paso North is now open. The new 87-suite hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by Summit TP EP LLC and managed by Esperanto Developments of El Paso, TX. The property is close to El Paso International Airport and downtown. In addition, there’s food and beverage options, a fitness center, a boardroom and business services.
Hyatt Place Opens its Doors in Waco, TX
Hyatt Place Waco-South is now open. The property is located adjacent to the Brazos River and close to downtown Waco, Magnolia Market At The Silos, Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, and the Central Texas Marketplace, among other attractions. The 96-room hotel has 24-hour food offerings, an indoor pool, 745 sq. ft. of meeting space and a fitness center.
Houston Metropolitan Area to Welcome New Staybridge Suites
The new Staybridge Suites IAH Houston Airport East is now open in Humble, TX, close to the George Bush Intercontinental Airport and downtown Houston. The property has an outdoor pool, BBQ pavilion, 24/7 fitness center and a business center. Surrounding amenities include the Deerbrook Mall, Humble Civic Center and George Turner Stadium, among others.
