DALLAS—Hotels.com has released its top travel predictions for the new year through an analysis of travel demand changes over the last two years.
“For 2016, we’re foreseeing an interesting mix of trending and often overlooked destinations with something for every type of traveler no matter your budget, climate preference, preferred language or lifestyle,” said Josh Belkin, VP and GM, North America, Hotels.com.
Hotels.com predicted that Queens will overtake Brooklyn as the most popular destination for New York City visitors staying in the outer boroughs. While Brooklyn has experienced about two-thirds increase in travel demand over the past two years, Queens is catching up quickly with a nearly 150% increase, an eclectic food scene and several boutique hotels such as The One Boutique Hotel in Flushing and Z NYC Hotel in Long Island City, according to the company.
In addition, it is predicted that Dallas and Anaheim, CA will make a leap in popularity after both cities saw a nearly 40% increase in travel demand since last year. Other cities that made the list and are expected to emerge as top travel destinations include Milwaukee, Buffalo, New York, Cleveland, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
