Hotel Projects Take Root on the East Coast

NATIONAL REPORT—Hotels are in the works on the East Coast. Here’s a look at two new projects coming to Newport, RI, and Maryland’s National Harbor.

Hammetts Hotel in Newport, RI, Slated to Open This Summer
Centrally located on America’s Cup at Commercial Wharf, the newly built Hammetts Hotel will welcome guests to Newport, RI, this summer. The 84-room boutique hotel is located in downtown Newport. The property has meeting space of up to 800 sq. ft., a restaurant and fitness center. Designed by Union Studio Architecture & Community in Providence, RI, the top two floors of the hotel house 42 guestrooms per level. Interiors will be completed by international design firm DiLeonardo.

Hyatt Place National Harbor to Debut Later This Year
OTO Development is set to open Hyatt Place National Harbor hotel later this year. The Hyatt Place National Harbor is an all-suite hotel located in National Harbor on Waterfront St. in Maryland. The 156-room hotel will have harbor views, an on-site restaurant with open-air patio, fitness center and 1,900 sq. ft. of meeting space. The architect and interior designer is Washington, DC’s //3877. Turner Construction is the general contractor.
