Hotel Projects in the Works in Las Vegas, Three in California

NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel projects are in the works in major cities. Brand entries, renovations and conversions are all part of the mix:

Delta Hotels by Marriott Plants Roots in Vegas

CAI Investments broke ground on the future site of Las Vegas’ first Delta Hotels by Marriott. The 24-floor hotel is projected to open fourth quarter of 2021 will have 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and approximately 1,600 sq. ft. of retail space, along with a rooftop pool, fitness center, covered parking, lobby dining bar and coffee bar. The property is close to the Las Vegas Strip and primary convention centers. Delta Hotels by Marriott is the final phase of CAI Investments’ 8.6-acre multi-purpose development, which began in 2017. The multimillion-dollar project also includes 27,000 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space.

First Margaritaville Island Resort to Come to the West Coast

Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and Margaritaville Holdings have revealed the global lifestyle brand’s first west coast resort in San Diego. The Margaritaville Island Resort San Diego is expected to open in 2020. Located on the 44-acre Vacation Island in Mission Bay, close to downtown San Diego, the site of the resort is currently home to Paradise Point Resort & Spa. Following renovations and conversion of the existing property estimated at approximately $35 million, the Margaritaville Island Resort San Diego will have 462 guestrooms, signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts and new recreational activities and family-friendly amenities.

Adding to the 80,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, marina, spa, tennis courts and fitness center, the property’s five pools and public spaces will be updated to reflect Margaritaville’s “no worries” lifestyle. Davidson Hotels & Resorts will operate the property as Paradise Point Resort & Spa until the hotel is reflagged and will continue to manage the property following the completion of the renovation and rebranding program.

San Francisco Hotel Undergoing Rebranding, Renovation

Braemar Hotels & Resorts Inc. has planned opening of The Clancy in January 2020. Located in San Francisco’s South of Market (SoMa) district, the former Courtyard San Francisco Downtown is undergoing a rebranding and renovation of approximately $30 million to create The Clancy. The hotel now joins Marriott International’s Autograph Collection Hotels. The hotel is within walking distance of restaurants, shops and attractions including the Moscone Center, Oracle Park, Union Square, Yerba Buena Gardens and the Metreon Complex. The hotel has 410 guestrooms, almost 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and food and beverage options.

Construction Begins On California Cambria Hotel

Choice Hotels International Inc. and Weintraub Real Estate Group have started construction on the Cambria Hotel Calabasas—Malibu. Expected to open in early 2021, the three-story, 125-room hotel will have an outdoor pool, fitness center, meeting space and food and beverage options. The Cambria Hotel Calabasas—Malibu is close to corporate headquarters of the Cheesecake Factory Inc., Harbor Freight Tools and Keysight Technologies Inc. It is also proximate to Pepperdine University, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, as well as the hiking and biking trails of the Santa Monica Mountains.
