Hotel Openings Heat Up the Heartland

NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel brands are expanding in the country’s Heartland. Here’s a look at the recent openings in Wisconsin, Missouri, Michigan, Nebraska and Iowa:

Cambria Welcomes First Hotel in Milwaukee
Cambria Hotels continues its expansion in Wisconsin with the opening of the Cambria Hotel Milwaukee Downtown. The four-story, 132-room hotel is the brand’s first location in Milwaukee and the third Cambria hotel to open in the state. The hotel was developed by Murphy Development Group and is managed by Concord Hospitality. The property has food and beverage options, meeting space, an indoor pool, fitness center and courtyard. Additionally, the hotel is close to business and entertainment destinations, including the Wisconsin Center convention complex, the Harley-Davidson Museum and Fiserv Forum arena.

SpringHill Suites Arrives in Springfield, MO

Marriott International has opened the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Springfield, MO. The 92-suite hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by AR Enterprises and managed by Hospitality Management Corporation of Dallas. The property is close to Springfield/Branson National Airport and downtown. The hotel also provides business services, guest laundry facilities, a 24/7 market, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center and 1,500 sq. ft. of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 120 people.

Delta Hotels Muskegon Downtown Opens in Michigan

Parkland Properties of Michigan has renovated and rebranded the 200-room Delta Hotels by Marriott Muskegon Downtown, which recently completed an $8-million renovation of all rooms, meeting and public spaces. The property will be connected to the new $19-million Muskegon Convention Center with 21,000 sq. ft. of meeting space coming in spring of 2020. The eight-story Delta Hotels by Marriott Muskegon Downtown has an indoor swimming pool,  fitness center, 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space and on-site food and beverage options.

Four Points by Sheraton Opens in Omaha, NE

Marriott International Inc. has opened the Four Points by Sheraton Midtown Omaha. The property, an asset managed by Genuine Hospitality Group and owned by NexGen Hotels, previously under the name University Inn, has 120 guestrooms, more than 1,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and a business center. There’s an on-site restaurant and pub, and the property is close to CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Expands in Wisconsin 

First Hospitality has opened the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Elkhorn-Lake Geneva Area. The 83-room hotel marks First Hospitality’s fourth property in the state. The property is near Lake Geneva, Alpine Valley Resort, the Walworth County fairgrounds among other attractions. Four floors of accommodations throughout the hotel include 21 suites, a business center, 1,600 sq. ft. of meeting space, a fitness center and indoor pool.
The property is managed by First Hospitality in partnership with Chicago-based hotel developers and owners E&M Strategic Development LLC.

Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Opens in Wisconsin

The 82-room Fairfield by Marriott in Appleton, WI, is now open. The Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Appleton will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by Brandt Hospitality Group of Fargo, ND. Close to the Appleton International Airport and Community First Champion Center, the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Appleton has an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, valet laundry service and fax and copy services.

Residence Inn comes to Ankeny, IA

The 90-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Ankeny, IA, is now open. The all-suite Residence Inn Des Moines Ankeny will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by Prairie Trail Hotel Associates LLC and managed by Kinseth Hospitality of North Liberty, IA. Located in the District of Prairie Trail, a planned community in the center of Ankeny, the Residence Inn Des Moines Ankeny is close to Des Moines International Airport and  downtown. The property has food and beverage options, guest laundry, a business library, indoor pool, fitness center and 528 sq. ft. of meeting space.
