Hotel Brands Expand With Developments Abroad

INTERNATIONAL REPORT—Hotels are setting roots across the U.K., Europe and the Mediterranean. Big brands and boutique estates are all part of the recent developments overseas:

Dalata Expands With London Opening

Dalata Hotel Group PLC continues its expansion with the opening of its Clayton Hotel, City of London. The four-star hotel located in the city’s financial district is the eighth Clayton to open in the U.K. and the third London hotel in the group.

The hotel was acquired for a total consideration of $117,324,662 (£91 million) and is the first of several Clayton hotel openings planned for the U.K. as part of a multimillion-pound investment throughout the Clayton network.

The hotel has 212 rooms, a restaurant, a bar and an on-site fitness suite. The property is located adjacent to Aldgate East Underground Station and close to the new Liverpool St. and Whitechapel Crossrail stations.

Voco Brand Continues Growth in the U.K.

IHG has signed a franchise agreement with CL Capital to debut Voco, IHG’s new upscale brand, in the West Midland’s town of Solihull. The hotel will be managed by Kew Green Hotels and will be the second Voco property in the U.K., following the opening of Voco St. David’s, Cardiff.

The 180-room Voco St. John’s, Solihull has recently opened under the Voco brand, following a transformative refurbishment to the guestrooms, lobby and restaurant and bar. The hotel has meeting and event space, a heath club and gym, pool and sauna.

Meliá to Come to Czech Capital

Meliá Hotels International is set to open Innside Prague Old Town, its first hotel in the Czech capital in March. Innside Prague Old Town Hotel will have 90 rooms, access to Vaclav Havel International Airport, the Powder Tower, Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter and Wenceslas Sq. Amenities include a gym, meeting space, a cinema, wellness studio and recording studio. 

Hard Rock in the Works in Amsterdam

Hard Rock International will expand its hotel portfolio with the opening of Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American in April 2020. Located on the Leidseplein Sq., Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American will be brought to life in one of the city’s Art Nouveau style buildings, built in 1900 and formerly known as the American Hotel. With 173 rooms and suites and newly renovated interiors, the hotel will keep all vintage decorative features intact throughout, along with signature Hard Rock memorabilia. In addition, the hotel will have meeting spaces, a fitness center, retail and food and beverage outlets.

Nobu Hospitality to Expand in Warsaw, Poland

Nobu Hotel Warsaw is set to open in the first half of next year. The hotel will have 120 rooms, meeting and event spaces, a fitness center and Nobu Restaurant. Nobu Hotel’s first Polish property will be designed by the Polish architectural firm, Medusa Group, and will also encompass the existing Hotel Rialto. The design refurbishment will be a collaborative effort between Medusa Group and California-based, Studio PCH. The new building will see a transformative architectural design for Warsaw, blending with the original Rialto building.

Boutique Estate to Open in Mediterranean

Finca Serena, a countryside estate in Mallorca, Spain will open in May. The property has 25 rooms and suites, food and beverage options, a spa, indoor and outdoor pools, fitness area and sauna.
