Homewood Suites Completes $6.5M Reno and Conversion

CARMEL, IN—Waramaug LS Hotels has converted the former DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Hotel Indianapolis-Carmel into a Homewood Suites property following a renovation. Interstate Hotels & Resorts will continue to operate the property.

The three-story, 137-suite property underwent a $6.5-million overhaul including new flooring and finishes in the lobby, upgraded building exterior along with new building colors, expanded spaces specifically in the exercise room and breakfast area, kitchens in all the suites with oversized refrigerators and stove units, modernized front desk telephone system featuring high speed and renovated indoor/outdoor pools and decks. The exterior pool now offers an outdoor living space with a pergola and two BBQ stations encased in stacked stone.

“The Homewood brand is clearly a very successful one and it’s a natural fit for this property to move under its umbrella. The area in which the hotel is located is dotted with major offices and many guests who come to the area to spend multiple nights. Therefore, we understood a need to serve the market with an additional extended-stay brand, which wasn’t possible under the previous DoubleTree Suites,” said Jay Litt, EVP, Waramaug Hospitality. “In addition, the hotel required a complete renovation so it was the best of both worlds to update the property and make the transition to being a Homewood Suites. We look forward to welcoming new guests starting July 1 as well as encourage all loyal guests who follow Hilton’s premier extended product.”

The property sits on 3.9 acres. With the new renovation, each suite now includes kitchens with oversized refrigerators and stove units with neutral decor. In addition, most bathrooms have been converted to showers inside glass enclosures.

Additional amenities include a complimentary breakfast as part of the newly expanded breakfast area and built in buffet as well as an evening snack where beer and wine are served.

The property is located in one of Indianapolis’ strongest office markets among major commercial and hospital complexes totaling over 2.7 million square feet within a 1-mile radius, according to the company.
