MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Samsung Electronics America unveiled its 2013 Lineup of LED Smart TVs for the hospitality industry at HITEC here.
The new 890 Series LED TVs feature Smart TV displays, which allow hotels to offer mobile device support, with embedded features and access to a variety of apps and widgets. The TVs also allow hotel owners to manage the content remotely.
“It’s the crown of our Smart TV lineup,” Jonas Tanenbaum, VP of hospitality at Samsung Electronics America, told Hotel Business, noting that it allows for full integration with the property management system.
Key features of the new series include premium edge-lit ultra-thin technology; Samsung’s LYNK SINC system, an IP-based content management solution that allows hotels to offer guest services and attractions within a new interface; Samsung LYNK REACH 2.0; H-Browser compatibility; and mobile device integration via AllShare Cast. In addition to the ability to share content across DLNA connected Samsung devices, this also makes it possible for guests to utilize screen mirroring and video streaming from a personal mobile device to the guestroom TV. The TV is available in three sizes—46 in., 55 in. and 65 in.
Tanenbaum noted that many of the available apps and widgets are what customers are doing in their daily lives at home. “They want to be able to do that in the hotel,” he said. “We’ve got a bunch of new scalable technologies to allow those experiences to carry over to the hotel.
