NEW YORK: LG, GE, and Amana reported strong 2010 PTAC sales due to an upturn in the business, but also because of an unusually hot summer across the U.S.
Speaking at the IH/M&RS here, these manufacturers of packaged terminal air conditioner systems reminded hotel owners of the need for regular preventive maintenance to ensure PTAC units operate at maximum efficiency.
Starting in January, the Federal government required PTAC manufacturers to begin using a new more environmentally-friendly refrigerant. LG, GE, and Amana each reported that the transition in refrigerants had undergone some challenges initially, but was now proceeding smoothly. Federal regulations are scheduled to change again in 2012.
